Capacity on the correct material basis

How to Size a Papaya Processing Line

Match receiving, preparation, extraction and finished-puree handling to one production schedule. A useful capacity enquiry identifies the material being measured and the time available for processing it.

01

Name the product behind the hourly figure

An enquiry expressed only as tonnes per hour leaves the most important question unanswered: tonnes of whole fruit, prepared flesh or finished puree? State the material and any known losses before comparing equipment duties.

Use a consistent unit and time basis. Bulk filling may be described by the complete bag cycle, while preparation is described by mass per hour; bring both into the same operating schedule.

02

Check the connected operations rather than one machine

Cutting, peeling and seed removal can determine how steadily prepared flesh reaches the pulper. Upstream machinery should not be selected on the assumption that every downstream operation runs without interruption.

Compare normal production, short stops and restart conditions. Buffering can smooth some differences, but it cannot create an unlimited receiving capacity or compensate for a persistently undersized next stage.

03

Give the quotation a usable starting point

A clear enquiry can begin with the desired finished-puree output and the planned working hours. Add the fruit input condition, target texture and package so the scope can be worked back through the line.

Where the project replaces one stage, include the existing upstream and downstream duties. This helps avoid a standalone machine selection that fits its own rating but not the process around it.

Questions in practice

Before connecting the equipment

Should every machine have the same nominal capacity?

Select each stage against its actual material duty and the shared operating schedule. Incoming fruit, prepared flesh and recovered puree have different flow quantities.
