Sorting and preparation access

Fruit inspection belt

Present washed fruit to operators before cutting and flesh recovery. The conveyor provides the handling surface; the inspection criteria, work positions and reject route determine how well the line controls damaged or unsuitable fruit.

01

Give operators time and space to reject fruit

Arrange a visible layer of fruit with access from the necessary working sides. Operators need to see the fruit surface, remove rejects safely and distinguish an acceptable ripe fruit from damage that makes it unsuitable for the product.

A fast belt does not create inspection capacity. Match feed spacing to the number of work positions, the assessment required and the time needed to move rejects to a separate container or removal route.

02

The handover to cutting, peeling and seed removal

After inspection, fruit preparation separates edible flesh from peel, seeds and unsuitable tissue. Set out where each operation occurs and how prepared flesh reaches the pulper without crossing the reject stream.

The belt assembly is a transport and access component. Cutting tools, peeling methods, seed-cavity handling and flesh recovery are selected as a distinct work stage around fruit size, labour and the required product. Check the prepared flesh before it enters the two-stage pulper.

03

Layout and operating inputs

InputReason it matters
Fruit size and spacingSets usable presentation area and side clearance
Inspection criteriaSets the work content for each fruit
Working positionsSets access, belt length and operator reach
Reject routeKeeps rejected fruit away from prepared flesh
Stop and restart logicPrevents accumulation when preparation pauses
Cleaning accessAllows the belt, rails and underside to be inspected
04

Keep the return run and work area accessible

Fruit residues can collect beneath rails and on the returning belt. Include access to those surfaces, the drive guard and the surrounding floor in the cleaning plan. Preparation tools and reject containers have separate cleaning requirements.

Specify working height and aisle space together with conveyor dimensions. Safe reach and isolation for cleaning need to work in the actual room, not only in a machine drawing.

Questions in practice

Before connecting the equipment

Does the inspection belt automatically peel or deseed papaya?

The conveyor presents and transfers fruit. Define the cutting, peel-removal, seed-removal and flesh-recovery method separately, then match its output and working layout to the pulper feed.
